CARLY COMPTON, B.ED., MSW

I am an eating disorder survivor turned eating disorder therapist.

My lived experience has led me to where I am today—working with individuals all over the world to help them give up dieting, recover from disordered eating or an eating disorder, and find genuine happiness and acceptance within themselves, no matter their size, race, gender, sexuality, or socioeconomic status.

I am the host of the Recover with Carly Podcast and the creator of Eating Disorder Education and Awareness: A Curriculum for Adolescents

recovery is not linear —

1:1 Psychotherapy

Associate Clinician at Pacific Mind Spa. Currently taking new clients. I specialize in eating disorders, body image, self-worth, anxiety, depression, and have experience in grief, adolescent therapy, and working with couples. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), flash technique (FT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) techniques (Phase I-III). I believe in empowering my clients to decide what strategies work best for them and their lives. I find strength-based practice to be critical.

speaking engagements

Educating and raising awareness on eating disorders, body image, Health at Every Size (HAES), anti-diet framework, mental health, therapy, and more. I have experience speaking in many settings, including keynote speeches, leading workshops, facilitating support groups, educational presentations in schools, and appearing on podcasts. I have collaborated with organizations such as the National Alliance for Eating Disorders, Project HEAL, Healing Hub, Undone Beauty, and UNdiet Online. I’m also even known for starting my speaking engagements with a mini dance party!

Modeling & Social Media

Signed with BICOASTAL MGMT based in Los Angeles. I do print and commercial and have worked with brands such as Adidas, Apple, Athleta, Fabletics, Knix, and JCPenney, among others. As someone who never saw her body type in media growing up, I am thankful to show up on set as my authentic self and represent the eating disorder recovery community. I use my platform to take part in important conversations around the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of individuals within the modeling industry and on social media.
